Think Before You Prompt
Not every task needs AI. Here's how to make smarter choices.
When NOT to Use AI
- **Simple Fact Lookups**
Instead of asking ChatGPT "What's the capital of France?", just Google it. Faster, more accurate, uses less energy.
- **Current Events**
AI models have knowledge cutoffs. For today's news, use news sources directly.
- **Basic Calculations**
Your phone's calculator is instant and doesn't need a data center.
- **Time/Weather**
Dedicated apps give real-time data; AI might be outdated or wrong.
When AI Shines
- Complex analysis requiring reasoning
- Creative brainstorming and ideation
- Learning new concepts with explanations
- Drafting and editing longer content
- Code debugging and optimization
The Golden Rule
Ask yourself: "Could I Google this?"
If yes, Google it. If no, use AI.
